The Image that Stays...

Today I attended a Celebrtity Wedding with Many Page Three Personalities Making Their Appearance....but the image that stays in my mind at the end of the day is of this wonderful-looking creature, at the Bangalore Rehabilation Centre, an animal rescue and rehab centre that I visited this afternoon.

Juv Brahminy Kite 090707

The kite was apparently treated and released to the wild; but he (I think it is a he, could a she have, in [info]asakiyume's words, this "fierce gaze"?) keeps coming back, and seems to be held in great affection, too!

A whole crowd of parakeets had been rescued from somewhere and Salim and his team were trying desperately to make some sickbay cages ready for the sick ones among them.

I don't know if they need money or not; but they do need volunteers of all sorts....

That's a lovely picture. Where is this centre?

It's about a km on the left fork on the road to Bannerghatta National Park...it is nowhere in as good shape as the PfA shelter...I will let you know if I can go there on Sunday for a while and help out. I want to find out more about the funding, because it seems to be run by the Forest Dept. and should not be in this condition...

Please let me know when you are going perhaps I can join you too and see what we can do to help them...this centre also does the same kinda work PFA does?

Beautiful :)... I want to know the same thing as mamta where is the center ???

See my reply to Mamta. If you can come over here (it is probably as far for you as the Kengeri shelter is for me)...we could drive down on Sat or Sun and help out a little.

PLease do let me know when ever you are going there so i can join you.

nice picture!

(the real purpose of the comment is so that [info]mamtanaidu and [info]anjali_ar aren't the only ones commenting with animal-userpics ;)

Thanks for the compliment, whatever it was prompted by! Hey, that IS a nice userpic too. Feel like swatting it, though, my love of wildlife doesn't extend to flies, roaches, rats and leeches..

Beautiful photo. Probably your best. But the square-ish size makes it lack a little something. Perhaps a more rectangular frame (golden ratio? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_ratio)

I agree with you; I do know about the golden ratio and the rule of thirds...but there was some unsightly stuff hanging from the nearby tree, and some sticking-out wires, that had to be cropped off. Will also pay more heed to composition...but the bird was TOO lovely not to post!

And...thanks for the compliment and keep the honest feedback coming!

HEY!!! (as Calvin would say.)I suddenly woke up...what do you mean, my best? Don't you know that, to coin an original, fresh phrase, the best is yet to come?

I meant to say 'your best so far'.

wish i was there

that's one of the nicest things i've heard from someone i haven't even met in real life.

learning that research life has more ups and downs than a s/w engg life!! flies are definitely cooperating tho, they have been laying a lot of eggs for my expts :)

love,
madhu
