| Flash on the Pan.... |
[May. 6th, 2008|09:38 am] |
No, I don't have that subject title wrong...
Every day, as I go about my morning chores, I take out one pan to heat my morning thimbleful (all I allow myself! caffeine! caffeine!) coffee, and I love the effect of the morning sunlight on it.
So yesterday I wasted some time capturing the effect...here it is on a towel:

Here, with the coffee in it:

and here, on the polished granite of the kitchen counter (there's the green of the plants in my kitchen window, reflected in the granite too:

There's so much beauty in the kitchen in the morning....I don't feel it's drudgery at all! If only Cinderella had an S3, I think she would not be moping amongst the cinders, but trying to catch the glow of the embers and seeing if a high ISO would help....of course then, like me, she would be behindhand with her work and her stepmother would have something to say about that... |

| Rose-Ringed Parakeets |
[Oct. 30th, 2007|02:26 pm] |
A little distance from our room in Delhi (well, Surajkund in Haryana, actually) was a tree on the parakeets were having fun....I didn't have the "birding" camera with me, only my trusty S3...so these are what I got!
Here's one bird making a "trunk" call (non-Indian friends...long-distance calls in India were called "trunk" calls..in fact, the term STD-- in phone parlance -- doesn't mean that the phone is a communicable disease, it means Subscriber Trunk Dialling!)

And I thought I would document the female parakeet, which doesn't have the eponymous rose ring around her neck, but is just as beautiful nevertheless.
Such foozly shots can be passed off as "documentation" shots!

They ARE common birds, which have adapted very well to urban and semi-urban areas. I only wish that they didn't have such harsh voices! |

It was great to meet up with dearchichi and shivakumar_l at Lalbagh, along with anushsh and Mahesh ...but we didn't spend too much time exchanging personal notes as we walked around the area, I got involved in some very nice macro stuff (one of which was my last post) and then when we all spotted sainath's SPOTTED OWLETS, the time just flew by and I had to rush off!
But hopefully, there will be more trips for wildlife and birding...and I *will* learn something more...!
Today, amoghavarsha, anushsh, dearchichi, and deponti are doing an LJ wildlife trip...will post about what we saw,later...
Meanwhile, here's one more macro shot:

And my photo of the SSO (Sainath's Spotted Owlet) is at
