Going Slow May Not Really Be the Best Thing...

On the way to visit the Jayamangali Blackbuck Sanctuary, we were negotating a badly dug-up stretch of highway, and I found this notice:

pune go slow

Now,

this link

tells me that Pune is 835km (about 519 miles) from Bangalore....

I wonder if the guy who put up the notice HAD to give the way to Pune, but doesn't WANT us to go there....?

Most of all, I loved this sign, which unwittingly gave the message that it IS wiser to wear a helmet... and [info]itsalouwelylife asked if "glass change" meant currency coins that made of glass!

What is this slow carb rice and how is it different from regular rice? If I eat my regular rice very slowly, will it become slow carb rice?

What's the bet that this rice is twice as expensive as regular rice?

"Gents specialist" doesn't mean they are gay, but that they are men's tailors....

But, if you happen to think that to err is human, there's a place for you, too, in Bangalore, where you can stay in comfort:

But some things are even more eye-catching than others...

As I turn from Santhome High Road on the Marina, into Radhakrishnan sAlai (erstwhile Edward Elliotts Road), I find that I am suddenly in New York!

Well, I was not in a militant mood, I was...affable...!

In Tamizh, the sign says "appapuL" (in Tamizh, "f" sound is written, somewhat awkwardly, with a "therefore" sign written before the "p" consonant...but that wasn't the case here). So, I was appapul instead of affable.

I do enjoy taking my MLC along!

I was very tickled to see that three rhyming friends (or relatives or family, perhaps that's more likely) had visited:

I must get down to posting about the variety of birds that we saw in Maidanahalli, but right now, I'm just thinking that dentists are a pain in the........teeth.

[info]deponti
Both days, on my way to Valley Green Inn in the Wissahickon area, I saw this poster:

041009 honey stop the car

I never could find out (it was on the road, and I could not ask either the cab driver on the first day, or Kusi on the second, to stop) what this was all about, but the possibilities are intriguing.

Can each of you come up with your story for this poster? Don't miss the dog in the illustration!

Looking forward to a very entertaining time of it...

My own simple-theory-to-begin-with:

There's honey for sale in the house behind the poster, and this is the way it's being advertised.

Oh, wow, Supreme Master Television, I thought, *just* what we need. What would this be showing? I looked to see, and was much struck by pictures of praying hens and loving pigs...you think I am joking? ME? Why would I joke about such a thing?

Here they are:

Sandalwood has been a close friend for some time now; he is a childhood friend of [info]amoghavarsha....without being a computer science student, this guy is so knowledgeable about software and hardware...and is one of the sweetest-natured people I know! KM and I ask him for advice on how to maintain our computers, and he has been unfailingly helpful. He is also a keen hiker, and I am thankful to him for introducing me to places like Turahalli.

He too knows of my interest in ...interesting...signboards, and here are some notices that he sent me recently. He says he too received them as forwards, so we don't know where these were taken....

If anyone has any information about their location, let me know!

We *think* we know what this one says:

the plastics using270709

I can understand the part about "a pride man is below to pig"

chandan greenery is our health 270709

but that "one rope released donkey"...what's that? Chandan explained to me that the first few lines mean, "it's better to be an egg that the snake eats, than be in the mouths of people as the subject of gossip"....

This one sort of starts of being understandable...even though "environment less is effect to human life" is difficult...

less is effect to human life 270709 chandan

but why the exhortation that's there's no hurry to be rich?

Next,

not provide the room to where and there toilet usings 270709

I agree that "where and there toilet usings" is the "work of animals, not human"...but why, suddenly, that talk about "loan arrangement"?

rescue environment

"All most all is one of the meaning less" just about sums it up!

The propriter of Hotel Shringar, wherever it is, has a lot to explain...

I am sure to face protests that I am being elitist. But I think that if someone is paying for public interest notices being put up, that person should also get something translated from the Kannada into English that is understandable! For example, "greenery is our health" (hasirE nammellara usiru) should have been translated as "greenery is the breath of life"...

As I walk in Forest Park, so many images fall on my mind's eye, and only a few of them are on camera. This post is mostly for myself, to look at later and recreate those magical evenings when the light melted into the purple dusk, the air held a hush, and I felt totally at peace....

I see very few butterflies, but I managed to get this tiny BLUE...

And this one is my favourite for the memory it brings back....the thundercloud was looming up, all the sky was a luminous mauve and purple, and the evening just glowed... the boat-lights shone dimly upon the waters of the creek, and the cool breeze was building up into a wind...dusk was a beautiful time to be there!

If that's the case, why IS this person going around in a "vehical" that drinks petrol?

I agree so much with this one too:

body of a buddha 150709

But I guess what is being referred to is the fat figure of the

Laughing Buddha

not the ascetic, lean, spare Buddha depicted in our Indian sculpture!

Well, some people are quite ingenious about their genius:

n gnius no plate 160709

And considering that I took this outside the Muny, where musicals are staged all summer, it's appropriate:

n tune 2 no plate

But some people are content with just

one haf no plate

We were passing by driving when A spotted this, and D kept driving past and I couldn't get a pic...and D finally had to stop awkwardly. He told me that the car behind us was a police car, and I got down to go and take that snap. Meanwhile, the police car radioed to some cops on the beat, who promptly came over, stopped me, and asked me what I was doing! I showed them the photographs, and they apologized and went on their way....

Oh all ye St Louisians, fear not, the police in Forest Park are alert and chasing away all suspicious characters!

OK, Beast, it's your turn now! :) Just go right on...
